Dr. Patricia A. Bach's Profile

Dr. Patricia A. BachDr. Bach has  20 years of experience providing psychotherapy and assessment services to adolescents and adults, and her practice especially emphasizes acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) for a range of presenting problems such as anxiety and mood disorders, adjustment disorders, behavioral health problems, and schizophrenia. Her treatment approach balances acceptance and change and using mindfulness-based and cognitive behavioral strategies in order to build psychological flexibility.

Dr. Bach completed her doctorate at the University of Nevada in 2000 where she was mentored by the creator of ACT, Dr. Steven C. Hayes.  Before joining Carter Psychology Center Dr. Bach was employed in University and private practice settings where she provided training in evidence based treatments to mental health professionals and graduate students, and conducted research on mindfulness and mindfulness-based treatment in addition to providing clinical services.

 

Dr. Bach is a past-president of the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science and a co-author of ACT in Practice: Case Conceptualization in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, a practical guide for mental health professionals, as well as several articles on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and other evidence- based treatment approaches and practices.
